This quote became the guiding theme in this revision of my second book, THE FALLING GIRLS.. And while this book is, at the core a friendship breakup story, it’s also about the darkness in the underbelly of cheer—the injuries, the persistence, the intensity to be completely in sync with your teammates even if you don’t get along.

THE FALLING GIRLS is about Shade Meyer, who is a bit of an outsider. She and her wild child best friend Jadis do everything together, they share clothes, share toothbrushes, and give each other stick and poke tattoos. Which is why it’s such a shock when Shade decides to join the cheerleading team where she is drawn to The Three Chloes—the insufferable trio that rules the squad—including the enigmatic cheer captain. Suddenly, one of the cheerleaders mysteriously dies at the Homecoming dance and Shade is determined to get to the bottom of her death.

Why am I asking you to buy my book that doesn’t even come out until October?

Pre-orders are counted towards a book’s first day numbers. That means, if you order the book right now, it’ll count towards the first day AND the first week. This means if you have a big first day and a big first week, it’ll increase your rankings on Amazon, or with independent bookstores. If they see it’s doing well on those first day and first week numbers - you guessed it, they give it more promotion. So if you see authors begging for pre-orders, this is why.
